Last post from New Zealand

View from the Skytower

It's kind of like the space needle in Seattle, you can see the shadow of it in the center of the photo.

Our last evening in NZ, our friends Wayne (center), and mouse (left, maroon shirt), took us for dinner in the Skytower, downtown Auckland. Tallest building in the city with 360 degree views of the area. We had dinner one floor up, the dinning area rotates as well, it takes an hour to complete the circle. Really spectacular place.

View from Skytower.

There is gambling on the lower 2 floors...no poker video machines though...strange. Judy played the machines and won $100. I asked her how to play the machine, she said "I have no idea." Good karma or blind luck, who cares, Judy was a happy camper.

Yachts in the harbor.

The yacht on the left is owned by the richest man in NZ. It's more like a small ship.

Glass floor. Judy's foot.

There are glass floors in parts of the observation tower, I couldn't get myself to stand on them.

Auckland Museum of Art.

I'm contemplating standing on the glass floor, which is amusing to Wayne.

View of landing area.

If you are brave enough, or just nuts, you can jump off the top of the tower. It's a face-first, layed out free fall in a harness that is attached to cables, so you guaranteed to hit the bullseye.

Floor of elevator. Dave's feet.

Even on your way home you can be frightened, just look down...yikes.
